The first part in this semester is about creating new sound to use in your compositions.
It will (as always) be about the practical aspects of making music.

The first 3-4 lessons is about
-Understanding the practical basics of how a FFT analyze works.
-Using an FFT based program for sound manipulation (stretching filtering and transposing) works.
-Work with different programs that uses FFT for sound manipulation.

-How to use sounds that has ben manipulated in an FFT program in other program.

-Find a FFT program that do basic sound manipulation like time stretch and transposition.

Speare (PC/Mac OSX)

 

Sound Hack (Mac)

 

Install the program on your computer.

 

Bring one sound file (max 20 seconds) of a human being that speaks.

Practical work with FFT and time stretching.

 

-How to use the sound you create with time  stretching.

-Edit the sound (in Wave Lab).

-Transfer the sound to a sampler (to Kontakt).
-Time stretch in a sampler (granulation).

 

-Spheare tutorial (short)

Time stretch on of your (favorite) soundfile.

Time stretch it with 3 different analyze settings.

 

Make the time stretch longer than 10 times.

 

Edit the new time stretched  sound files. Take out (copy) the best parts and make new sound files of them. Put them into a sampler (Kontakt).
